SCUBA Diving

Conservation International summarised the Milne Bay Province as having "Exceptionally high marine biodiversity thriving under relatively pristine environmental conditions and characterized by being in all likelihood the largest expanse of relatively pristine reefs remaining in the Coral Triangle".

Milne Bay's reefs and seas have the richest marine biodiversity in the world. Milne Bay's diving is in the top three world sites, according to National Geographic Magazine. It has a variety of beaches with powdery white sands, black sand, volcanic rock or with pebble or coral beaches.

The diving in Milne Bay is awesome. Please see the 'Diving' link in the main menu for more information.

TREKKING

A great way to meet the village and spot birds, orchids, visit skull caves, bat caves and the incredible coast line of Milne Bay. Set your pace to match your experience, with experienced staff and local guides these treks will take you through the villages and lifestyles of the communities of PNG. There is beautiful wilderness trekking along the paths used by the communities. Up hills, through rainforest, over rocks, into caves, do some skin diving or have a fish.
There truly are some amazing treks to do in Milne Bay and a lot of the time we will be amongst the first groups to walk the area. This is a unique opportunity for groups of walkers to come over and experience PNG in its purest form. If you are interested in doing some exploratory treks please contact us to discuss further.

Sea Kayaking

Kayaks are a great way to get around the harbor or tow them behind “LIA” on one of our boat or fishing trips. Our fishing kayaks are, obviously, fitted out for fishing and are also great for scuba diving or skin diving. Head up the mangroves to hunt for barramundi or mangrove jack or even the famous “Black bass”. Paddle around an island trolling for mackerel or dive the coral reef.  Kayaking is an excellent way to visit the bay and a very relaxing and enjoyable day’s activity.
We found the coastline of Milne Bay to be amongst the most scenic kayaking we have done, moreover there are very few people that have kayaked this part of the world (possibly less than a dozen!). If kayaking this area sounds like your thing and you can put a group together then please contact us to discuss an exploratory trip.

Fishing

There is great fishing to be had here and we make sure that fishing is part of every trip we do (nothing better than fresh fish for lunch). We can also put together specialised fishing trips for the reel enthusiasts. Contact us to discuss further.

Surfing

PNG is fast becoming a well known place for its un-surfed, isolated breaks. Milne Bay is no exception. The area has only had a small amount of exploration as far as breaks are concerned and even less people surfing them. Surf is here from the months of May to November but we will need to take the boat out on an extended surf exploration adventure and camp on islands along the way. We know that these breaks exist, with some large international surf boats and magazines having great success out here. However there are plenty of unexplored,
un-surfed and yet to be named breaks that will need a little work to get to. Still that’s half the adventure.
We have some good breaks close to town, but for me, personally, the really good stuff is breaking off the islands out in the Lousiade Archipelago. The south easterly swells that come up from New Zealand are interrupted only by the islands of New Caledonia and they are some 750 nautical miles away. So fueled with a good wind, these waves are breaking on our shore. More exploratory trips need to be done.
